This Certificate IV level aged care course – CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support is delivered in Parramatta. It reflects the role of support workers who complete specialised tasks and functions in aged care services; either in residential aged care facility, home or community based environments. Aged care workers will take responsibility for their own outputs within defined organisation guidelines and maintain quality service delivery through the development, facilitation and review of individualised service planning and delivery.
Aged care workers may be required to demonstrate leadership and have limited responsibility for the organisation and the quantity and quality of outputs of others within limited parameters.

Licensing/Regulatory Information
No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication. However, all students will be required to have a working with vulnerable people and police check before commencing work placement.

- Good understanding of English
- School certificate or equivalent (Grade 10)
- 18 years of age
- Must have a valid USI

Packaging Rules
Total number of units = 18
15 core units plus
3 elective units, of which:
- At least 2 must come from the prescribed list.
- if not listed below, 1 unit may be from any currently endorsed Training Package at Certificate III level or above OR any accredited course at Certificate III level.
Elective units must be relevant to the work environment and the qualification, maintain the integrity of the AQF alignment and contribute to a valid, industry-supported vocational outcome.

Work Placement
All students must complete a minimum of 120 hours of work experience in a regulated aged care facility to be deemed competent for Certificate IV in Ageing Support qualification.
How long will it take?
Duration is dependent on training delivery mode, individual experience and skills. Students are required to complete a volume of learning of 1450 hours comprising of guided learning, individual study, assessments and work placement. Generally the Certificate IV in Ageing Support course will take anywhere between 6 months and a year to complete.

Course Cost
This course is subsidised through the Smart and Skilled program and could be FEE FREE for eligible participants.

Assessment
The Certificate IV in Ageing Support course will be presented in competency-based mode and the student’s competency will be assessed at all levels according to competencies and performance criteria. The training package for each competency specifies the conditions and method of assessment. Assessment methods range from completing set tasks and activities, class attendance and participation and completion of assignments / projects.
