Qualification Description
This qualification reflects the role of individuals working as developing and emerging leaders and managers in a range of enterprise and industry contexts.

As well as assuming responsibility for their own performance, individuals at this level provide leadership, guidance and support to others. They also have some responsibility for organising and monitoring the output of their team.

They apply solutions to a defined range of predictable and unpredictable problems, and analyse and evaluate information from a variety of sources.

Entry Requirements

  • Good understanding of English
  • School certificate or equivalent (Grade 10)
  • 18 years of age
  • Must have a valid USI
  • Reading and Writing Skills (L)

  • Numeracy and Mathematics skills (N)

Packaging Rules
Total number of units = 12

4 core units  plus
8 elective units, of which:

  • 4 units must be from Group A
  • up to 4 units may be additional units selected from Group A
  • up to 4 units may be selected from Group B
  • if not listed below, 1 unit may be from any currently endorsed Training Package at Certificate IV level or above OR any accredited course at Certificate IV level.

Elective units must be relevant to the work environment and the qualification, maintain the integrity of the AQF alignment and contribute to a valid, industry-supported vocational outcome.

How long will it take?
Duration is dependent on training delivery mode, individual experience and skills. Students are required to complete a volume of learning of 876 hours comprising of guided learning, individual study and assessments. Generally the course will take anywhere between 6 months and a year to complete.

Opportunities for Further Study
After achieving the BSB42015 Certificate IV in Leadership & Management, students could continue their studies by completing BSB51915 – Diploma of Leadership and Management or BSB61015 – Advanced Diploma of Leadership and Management.

Recognition of Prior Learning
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) allows a person to receive recognition and credit for the knowledge and skills they have, no matter how and where they were attained, including overseas. This can include skills from previous study, work experience and life experience.

Credit Transfer
Capital Careers has an obligation to recognise Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) qualifications and Statements of Attainment issued by other registered training organisations

Assessment
The course will be presented in competency-based mode and the student’s competency will be assessed at all levels according to competencies and performance criteria. The training package for each competency specifies the conditions and method of assessment. Assessment methods range from completing set tasks and activities, class attendance and participation and completion of assignments / projects.
