The DRSABCD Action Plan

A core component of this course is learning and applying the DRSABCD Action Plan — the standard emergency response framework used throughout Australia and aligned to ARC guidelines.

    Open and clear the casualty’s airway. Tilt the head back and lift the chin.

    Check for normal breathing. Look, listen and feel for up to 10 seconds.

    CPR
    If not breathing normally, commence CPR — 30 chest compressions to 2 rescue breaths.

    Defibrillation
    Attach an AED (automated external defibrillator) as soon as one is available and follow its prompts.
