TRAINING FOR ABORIGINAL AND TORRES STRAIT ISLANDER AUSTRALIANS

CHANCES – Community Helping Aboriginal Australians to Negotiate Choices leading to Employment and Success
CHANCES is a great support and training program that helps Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians (living in the ACT) to gain skills and access services to help them make choices leading to a life that includes having a job, being financially independent and a stronger sense of being part of the community.

The program provides participants with access to nationally accredited training, coaching and mentoring, plus a range of non-accredited self-confidence boosting and fun activities to engender a sense of purpose and ‘belonging’.

Support services provided to participants include:

childcare / after school activities and Homework Club assisted by tutors
transport to and from Belconnen
FREE family dinner twice a week
mentoring by members from the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community
access to range of other service providers and organisations in a friendly environment.

CHANCES is a collaboration between Capital Careers, Northside Community Services, Office of Multicultural, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Affairs – ACT Community Services Directorate, TEMPlar Recruitment Services, ACT Community Policing, ACT Aboriginal Justice Centre and the ACT Indigenous Elected Body.
