CHC40608 Certificate IV in Leisure and Health

Course Description

 

This qualification addresses work in the residential facilities and/or in community agencies and day centres and work under professional supervision within defined organisation guidelines or as sole practitioners. These workers:

  •  Assist with design, implementation and evaluation of health and leisure activities and programs for clients in one or more sector areas
  •  May be responsible for other workers

Occupational titles may include:

  • Activities officer
  • Community leisure officer
  • Disability officer – day support .
  • Diversional therapy assistant
  • Leisure officer
  • Recreation activities officer

Course packaging.

16 units must be selected for this qualification including: 11 core units and  5 elective units

  •  One unit must be selected from Groups A and B
  •  At least one unit must be selected from Groups C and D

The importance of culturally aware and respectful practice All workers undertaking work in community services need foundation knowledge to inform their work with Indigenous clients and co-workers and with clients and co-workers from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. This foundation will be provided and assesses as part of a holistic approach to delivery and assessment of this qualification.

Course Pre-requisites:

Participants must have well developed communication skills and work experience in a relevant industry.

Opportunities for Further Study

Successful completion of this qualification will allow participants to further their studies to Diploma level study in the Community Services Training Package.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) allows a person to receive recognition and credit for the knowledge and skills they have, no matter how and where they were attained, including overseas. This can include skills from previous study, work experience and life experience.
Credit Transfer Capital Careers has an obligation to recognise Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) qualifications and Statements of Attainment issued by other registered training organisations
How long will it take?

Duration is dependent on training delivery mode, which can include distance learning, self paced learning, face to face workshops or a combination flexible delivery.

Assessment

The course will be presented in competency-based mode and the student’s competency will be assessed at all levels according to competencies and performance criteria. The training package for each competency specifies the conditions and method of assessment. Assessment methods range from completing set tasks and activities, class attendance and participation and completion of assignments / projects.
