Smart and Skilled is a reform of the NSW vocational education and training system. It’s helping people get the skills they need to find a job and advance their careers.
Smart and Skilled provides eligible students with:
- an entitlement to government-subsidised training up to and including Certificate III
- government funding for higher-level courses (Certificate IV and above) in targeted priority areas.
Students can go to the Smart and Skilled website for up-to-date information.
ARE YOU ELIGIBLE?
You may be eligible for Smart and Skilled funding if you:
- are aged 15 years or older
- have left school
- live or work in New South Wales
- are an Australian citizen, permanent
resident, humanitarian visa holder
or New Zealand citizen
The NSW Government sets the qualification prices and student fees for government-subsidised training under Smart and Skilled.
The student pays a portion of the qualification price (known as the “student fee”). The balance of the qualification price (known as the “subsidy”) is paid by the NSW Government directly to the training provider.
Please refer to smart and skilled website for further details. https://www.training.nsw.gov.au/smartandskilled/prices_fees.html

- Australian Passport
- Australian Birth Certificate

Creating a Unique Student Identifier(USI) is quick, easy and free. https://www.usi.gov.au/students/how-do-i-create-usi .Watch this USI video tutorial for students demonstrating how to create a USI.
From the first of January 2015, all students participating in Vocational Education and Training (VET) qualifications are required to have a Unique Student Identifier (USI). We are required by Commonwealth legislation to have this number recorded for your training and cannot enrol new students without this number. Your USI may be used for reporting Training Activity Data to the Department.
Capital Careers requires all its students to undertake a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) skills assessment to ascertain that the proposed training program is appropriate for you. This is usually done face-to-face during an enrolment visit.
